It's situated between the heel and the tip of Italy. Its historical name was Lucania, from the Latin
lucus, for many reasons (the reasons are uncertain): because it is to land of woods; because it was to land reached by to
warrior people who followed the sunlight, because it was inhabited by the Liky, people coming from Anatolia. The remote
origins of this region are proved by Matera, one of the most ancient cities of the world, famous for its stones and
inserted in the World-Wide patrimony of the Unesco. Basilicata is not the goal of the customary tourism, even if it's
hospitable and rich of attractions both natural and historical: the
thermal baths (spa), natural parks, museums and the famous
exhibition of Sculpture of Matera. Deciding to spend own holiday, in this region, means to choose
adventurous holiday, to the discovery of historical testimonies, and means to choose to contact with the uncontaminated
nature and the limpid sea of Maratea, Poliporo and Nova Siri.
